S-video cables

how to convert from svideo to composite (RCA)!!!
Back to telecom/cables back to srl's page
OK ok ok!! I"ll post instructions by popular demand! and 'cause i'm sick of re typing it. :) What's below is an email I sent out, let me know if it helps!

Well it's easy. Here's what I did. This worked well!

This is ONLY for svideo TO rca. going the other way takes some
electronics

What I did is buy a svideo extention cable. Leave on the end you want to
plug in, and cut it in the midddle.

Inside you should find TWO sheilded wires. (an inner wire wrapped in
plastic wrapped in shielding.) The RCA cable just has a single shielded
wire (coax, that is). What you do first is tie all 3 of the inner
conductors together (the 2 from the svideo to the 1 from the rca..) and
solder it. Then, wrap that in black tape. Then, put aluminum foil around
all of that and attach the shields together.

Svideo just has the color(chroma) and the b&w(luminance) signal separate
so they don't bleed into each other. You can simply tie 'em together and
you'll get a plain old video connection

hope this helps! this is what i suspected, and i found enough info to
convince myself it was accurate. And it works! Make sure you don't short
the wires together. Let me know if this helps.
